This year marks the 57th anniversary of Nosa’s Noshcon conference, making it one of the oldest and longest running on the African continent. The conference affords the organisation the opportunity to outline its success in providing clients with products which put in place risk management standards and best practice designed to provide workers with safe and environmentally sustainable places of work.

Changes to product offerings
Focus will be placed on educating users on the first international standard for occupational health and safety (OHS) from ISO. In order to meet these requirements some changes have been made to NOSA’s Five Star Systems, previously aligned with OHSAS 18001: 2007 and ISO 14001, to ensure these products comply with the new ISO 45001:2018.

SAMTRAC revised
In order to keep up with changing industry norms SAMTRAC, a leading course in occupational risk management in the workplace, has also seen some changes. The changes were driven by global demand to optimise all business assurance efforts. In an attempt to ensure all individual risk-management requirements are fulfilled, the course will continue to develop into next year.

Keynote speaker
Themes for this year’s conference are innovation, evolution and sustainability in SHEQ best practice as complimented by speakers like keynote Vusi Thembekwayo.

After dropping out of university due to financial constraints Thembekwayo started his own company called Global Professionals South Africa (GPSA) using nothing more than a cell phone. He now is a self-made venture capitalist, global business speaker and serial entrepreneur, with many ideas on how to solve economic challenges in Africa. His mission is to change the African narrative, by challenging the mind set and approach towards achieving economic freedom.
