The South African Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (Saiosh), the recognised professional body for occupational health and safety in South Africa, and its members are playing a crucial role during these unprecedented and challenging times. “Together we are supporting the health, safety and wellbeing of workers and organisations throughout South Africa, helping to prevent, contain and delay the spread of Covid-19,” says Neels Nortjé, chief executive officer of Saiosh. “I have been most impressed with the almost daily emails from admin@saiosh.co.za with Covid-19-related information coming through on webinars, and product and service updates,” says Sanjay Munnoo, president of Saiosh. He adds that the relations between Saiosh and IOSH have strengthened significantly over the years. “It is anticipated that a 5-year Memorandum of Understanding between the two organisations will be signed shortly.” Nortjé continues: “While we acknowledge and thank the thousands of members who have renewed their 2020 membership with Saiosh, we realise the financial difficulties that some members are facing during these trying times.” To this end, Saiosh has established the Saiosh Membership Relief Fund to assist members who have been adversely affected by Covid-19 to renew their 2020 membership. To apply, send your application to info@saiosh.co.za with the following information: • Full name; • ID number; • Saiosh membership number; • Saiosh membership grade; • Details of financial difficulties, for example, proof of unemployment, retrenchment or company closure; and • A motivational letter with references. “Each application will be evaluated on its merits and the decision made by Saiosh will be final,” says Nortjé. “All applications will be acknowledged. Only successful applicants will be notified of the outcome, which will be done within three days of receipt of the application. “Together we as health and safety professionals can assist to fight and overcome the Covid-19 pandemic.” Leave a Reply Cancel ReplyYour email address will not be published.CommentName* Email* Website Save my name, email, and website in this browser for the next time I comment.
