NOSA has signed an agreement with Stellenbosch University aimed at elevating its product offerings and enhancing the employability of its learners

NOSA has confirmed that it has signed a two-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Stellenbosch University’s Water Institute (SUWI), aimed at coordinating, developing and aligning current, nationally registered occupational qualifications, as well as fostering additional consulting services.

In addition, the agreement – signed by NOSA’s Sales and Marketing Director, Justin Hobday, and Professor Eugene Cloete, the university’s vice-rector, with responsibility for research, innovations and postgraduate studies – aims to turn the mining industry’s Zero Harm Campaign into a reality.

In a statement, a spokesperson for NOSA describes the MoU as targeted at nurturing a mutually beneficial relationship to augment the credibility of NOSA’s product offerings and enhance the employability of its learners.

“With SUWI as its development partner, NOSA will have access to the latest peer-reviewed information that will elevate its products, and help the organisation to develop its relationships with relevant and current industry role players in the ever-changing environment of adult education,” the statement says.

“Key account manager Jo-Mari Roselt, special projects manager Yvette Viljoen, accreditations manager Ruth Booysen and the rest of the project team will work closely with Manuel Jackson and his team at SUWI to create quality content aimed at leadership positions, with a specific focus on mining programmes. This partnership will enable NOSA’s students to build a solid foundation for their desired safety career.”

NOSA provides services to companies on five continents, with a national footprint of offices across southern Africa. It employs over 500 health, safety, environmental, quality and food-safety specialists. The company has a proven track record of reducing injuries and fatalities in the workplace and provides products and services to all sectors of industry.
